A custom sign is one of those things people put off because they're not sure how to start. It's actually the easy part, because I do the design work with you. I've been making custom steel signs in Auckland since 2007, so here's how it works and what to think about.
Just about any sign you can picture in steel. The most common are family name and house name signs, address signs with your number and street, business and shopfront signs, bach and Airbnb signs, and one-off pieces like a quote, a logo or a word that means something to you.
It's simple, and there's no risk to you. You place your order with the style, size and finish you'd like, I send you a design proof to look over, and we adjust the layout, font or spacing until you're happy. Nothing is cut until you approve it. Then I laser cut it here in Auckland, coat it, and ship it.
Most people don't arrive with a font in mind, and that's fine. I'll send you our current popular styles to choose from. If you have a look you love, send me a font from dafont.com or a photo and I'll work from that. Modern, classic, bold or handwritten, it's your call.
Signs live outside, so the finish matters. I make them in powder-coated aluminium in black, white or gold, corten for a warm weathered look, and brushed marine-grade 316 stainless for coastal homes. All are built to last in NZ weather.
Bigger than you think is the usual advice, especially for anything read from the street. Signs come with pre-cut holes to screw to the wall, and some can sit on stand-off mounts for a floating look. The right screws depend on your surface, so I don't supply those, but my installation guide covers it.
Because each one is made to order, current lead time is around 20 business days from when you approve the design, plus shipping. The proofing back-and-forth is usually just a few days.
Have a look at my personalised signs and house numbers and address signs, or get in touch with your idea and I'll take it from there.
Yes. Every custom order includes a design proof I email you to approve. Nothing is cut until you're completely happy with it, and there's no separate design fee for standard work.
Family or house names, your address and street name, business names, bach and Airbnb signs, or a word, quote or logo that means something to you.
No. Most people pick from the popular styles I send through. If you'd prefer something specific, send me a font from dafont.com or a photo of a look you like.
