Garden ornaments are the small, versatile pieces - little wall ornaments for a patio, courtyard or fence, and planter stakes that push straight into a pot or garden bed. Easy to place and easy to layer, they suit the spots a larger sculpture would overwhelm. Most are cut from corten, an architectural weathering steel that develops a warm, rusted patina outdoors, with some in powder-coated colour and stainless. As corten first weathers it can run a little, so on a patio it's best set over soil or planting rather than on pale pavers.

Common questions about garden ornaments

How do the planter stakes go in?

They simply push into a pot, planter or garden bed - no digging, fixing or footings. Set them slightly back among planting so the foliage frames the base, and move them whenever you re-jig the garden.

Are they okay outdoors and by the coast?

Yes - every piece is made for New Zealand conditions, including coastal. Corten weathers beautifully by the sea; only in constant, direct salt spray right on the seafront would stainless or aluminium be the better pick.

Will corten stain my patio?

As it first weathers, corten can leave a little rust runoff, so a patio ornament is best set over soil or planting rather than directly on pale pavers or new concrete. Once the patina settles the running stops.
