What is corten steel, and how does it weather?

Many of Lisa's garden pieces are made from corten steel, which naturally weathers into a rich, rusted surface. As it settles there can be a little runoff where it touches another surface. This is part of the natural process and eases as the steel seals, so you can weather a piece off the wall first if you prefer, or rinse the area after heavy rain.
